In Onancock Market’s salsa contest, Harris earns top prize

ONANCOCK — The customers shopped and mingled at The Onancock Market, a Saturday-morning open-air gathering of farmers and artisans. The Latin American music was playing. The market manager wore a sombrero. The different varieties of salsa lined the table.
The judges were handed plastic spoons and clipboards and began to sample the 21 varieties of salsa — one made with crab meat, one with steamed clams, and one a watermelon-and-strawberry blend sweet enough to be dessert.
